Adding a new livestock tracker

You can have as many livestock trackers as you wish, provided you have either a unique set of sales/purchase accounts setup or Multi-Farm enabled.

You can find your trackers under the Operations tab in the side menu.

When on the Trackers page select + Create New Tracker and on the following page select your desired livestock type from the list provided, e.g. Dairy Cattle.

To create a new livestock tracker, you'll need to enter a name and the desired account mapping. If you have enabled Multi-Farm, you'll see an additional option to choose which tracking option the tracker is assigned to.

NOTE: Single purchase and sale account mapping means you have one sales and purchase account for all your stock classes, e.g. Dairy Cattle - Sales.

Individual purchase and sale account mapping means you have a unique sales and purchase account for each stock class, e.g. Bobby Calves - Sales, MA Cows - Sales.

Please note purchase accounts must be a Direct Cost in order to map the account. If no accounts show here you will need to go to your Chart of Accounts page and change the type to Direct Costs.

Configuring your livestock tracker

On creation you'll be taken to the livestock tracker settings page, you can get back to this page at any stage.

In the tracker settings you can update the standard payment terms (defaulted to 2 weeks), stock weights, enabled stock classes, accounting software account mapping, and opening balances.

NOTE: New Zealand and Australian livestock trackers have an additional option to enable rations, map rations, and contra of rations accounts.

On creating a new livestock tracker, you'll be given a list of stock classes you can enable.

Once you select your preferred stock classes, you can map the corresponding sale/purchase account for the stock classes.

Once you're happy with the setup, hit Save at the bottom of the tracker.

We recommend hiding disabled stock classes after enabling all stock classes - it makes your tracker settings look a little tidier! You can change that option at any time.

Managing stock classes

If you wish to make changes to your stock classes, you'll need to head to the Tracker Settings page. To get there, head over to Operations > Trackers > and then select the relevant tracker. Once you've opened the Tracker, click on the gear icon towards the top of the page (shown below).

You then scroll down to Manage Classes where you can enable or disable stock classes.

If you have previously chosen to hide disabled stock classes and you wish to enable a stock class, you will first need to uncheck the hide disabled stock classes box.

You cannot delete a stock class, but to disable one, simply untick the box of whichever stock class you no longer need to track. You cannot disable a stock class that has transactions against it; a lock icon will be present instead of a checkbox for any stock classes with transactions.
