What is Auto Analyst?

Meet Auto Analyst

Written by Dharm Patel

Auto Analyst instantly transforms your farm data into clear, meaningful commentary. Using artificial intelligence to create ready-to-share insights that help your customers understand their reports at a glance.

Auto Analyst is in Beta. You'll see a Beta label on it in the component picker. It's fully usable, but we're still refining it — so tell us what's working and what isn't.

Getting started

How to use it

Auto Analyst is a feature in the Reporting studio. Before generating your commentary, you must create your report and make sure you have added all the components you want to include in your report.

You'll find Auto Analyst in the customisation panel, underneath your components. Select it and it will appear in your report - you can drag and drop it into position just like any other component.

When you're ready to configure your commentary, select Auto Analyst and the configuration panel will open. From here you can choose which components you'd like it to consider, then select your topic:

  • Highlights: Extracts 2-3 most critical insights from the financial data, focusing on what matters most for immediate attention and decision making

  • Performance Summary: Provides commentary on overall financial position, highlighting key achievements and areas of concern across the selected data

  • Trend Analysis: Examines patterns over time, identifying trajectories, seasonal factors, and whether performance is improving or declining

You can also choose your preferred level of detail:

  • Short paragraph

  • Detailed analysis

  • Bullet points

Once configured, select Generate Commentary. Not quite right? You can regenerate as many times as you like.

What Auto Analyst can read

Auto Analyst reads the components you select, including Report widgets built with Flexible Columns, and Gross Margin widgets.

It can't read Scatter Plot, Image, Farm Summary or Custom Table components. If you select one of these it won't contribute anything to the commentary, so it's worth building your report around the components Auto Analyst can actually see.

Editing the commentary

Every time you generate, Auto Analyst produces a fresh block of text. It's designed to give you a starting point rather than a finished paragraph.

If you want to reword the commentary in your own voice, the best approach is to copy the text Auto Analyst has generated, add a Textbox component to your report, and paste it in there. You can then edit it freely. Keeping your wording in a Textbox means it sits separately from the Auto Analyst block and won't be replaced the next time the commentary generates.

Tip: Treat Auto Analyst as your first draft. Generate it, copy what you want to keep into a Textbox, and shape it from there before sharing the report with your client.
